What makes AIYFC different from other tournaments?
All tournaments tout the quality of their competition, and the attractiveness of their locales.  AIYFC differs from the "mega tournaments" trying to impress you with their huge
number of teams participating.  If you have ever attended one of these huge tournaments, you know from personal experience what they lack - personal service and attention.  They do not offer personalized itineraries for your team, nor do they assist you in organizing special events or activities desired by your team.  AIYFC staffers are dedicated to putting together a special and memorable tournament experience for your entire team.

Is AIYFC sponsored by any local football league or organization?
Unlike many tournaments that claim to be "National Tournaments", AIYFC is not sponsored by or affiliated with any local football leagues or organizations.  We are sponsored by  Tampa Bay & Company, the visitors and convention bureau government agency of Hillsborough County, Florida.

How does AIYFC determine which teams are accepted into the tournament?
We have heard of horror stories of teams traveling to some of these "mega tournaments" with 100+ teams and upon arriving, find out that the teams you are slated to compete against either are substantially older or heavier than you are.  We've also heard of the unfortunate situation in which teams have been playing against teams with obviously illegal players.  These huge events cannot fully check out all teams that come to their tournament for proper ages and weights.  This does not occur at AIYFC.  All teams must submit documentation for all rostered players, including certified rosters and birth certificates.  All players must weigh in with tournament staffers to ensure they are within the weight requirements.  And all teams are fully checked before the start of every game to ensure legality of all participants.  Staff is always on-site to ensure proper participation.  This is not the case at many of the mega tournaments.

How does AIYFC match teams into brackets?
AIYFC matches similar teams into 4-team brackets with major consideration given to maximum, minimum, and average team weight, and maximum ages.  This ensures that teams are generally the same weight and age, and games will be won and lost based on player performance and coaching, not size or age.  AIYFC is not about championship football teams, but is about providing well coached and supported youth football teams the opportunity to end their seasons with a fantastic family vacation and football experience.

What are the age and weight restrictions for the AIYFC?
The AIYFC staff has over 50 years experience coaching, officiating, and organizing youth football programs around the country.  Our experience and knowledge has been put to use in developing our general age and weight categories.  CLICK HERE to review our age/weight divisions. Teams falling into these divisions are then hand selected and placed into individual divisions with other teams whose heaviest, lightest, and average weight are similar.  Though it doesn't assure there will be no 40-0 football games, it ensures a fair match up, and victory is based on quality of players, performance, coaching, and some luck.

We're an out of town team, but we want to make our own housing arrangements and just play in the tournament.  Is this OK?
Unfortunately, no.  The AIYFC is designed as a 5 day, 4 night family football vacation.  Besides two football games, teams and supporters have the opportunity to enjoy the many central Florida attractionsTournament rules require out of town team to arrive on Wednesday (earlier arrivals and departures can be arranged) to check in, be weighed-in and certified, and coaches must attend a mandatory football coaches meeting Wednesday night.  And so much of the tournament experience includes staying in our tournament hotels with other teams from around the country, meeting new people and making new friends.  Teams returning to the AIYFC have said they keep in touch with players and coaches they met during tournament week.

What does it cost to participate in the AIYFC?
There are two costs involved in attending the AIYFC - the team registration fee and hotel fees.  Both are fully explained on our Fees Page.
